The Yahwist source is traditionally associated with the united monarchy of David and Solomon, thus roughly 1000–900 BCE.5 As civilization expands in Genesis, the sites we hear of are those associated with the southern kingdom of Judah, and the neighboring peoples who are mentioned are nations that David and Solomon have conquered or annexed.
