The Karnataka government announces an ex-gratia compensation of ₹10 lakh (US$14,000) each to the families of the two men killed in violent protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act in Mangaluru on 19 December.[159] However, the compensation was withheld on 26 December, impending an enquiry on the killed men.[160]
