John of Leiden: Anabaptists (20 Nov 1509 Jahr – 26 Jun 1536 Jahr)

The Anabaptists were a part of the radical part of the Protestant Reformation. They believed that the Christian church was a group of believers who had undergone spiritual rebirth. They believed that no one should be forced to accept the bible, and said that all believers are equal. Human law had no power over Gods rule, and Anabaptists argued that there should be a complete separation of church and state so that the church completely replaced the state and al were governed by the word of God.

John of Leiden believed that he was going to "cleanse the world with his sword," and proclaimed himself the "King of New Jerusalem."In 1534, he and the Anabaptists drove out all non-Anabaptists out of the city of Munster, and named it New Jerusalem. They needed to purify the world from evil in preparation for Jesus's Second Coming. They were crazy.
