Ulrich Zwingli (4 Apr 1484 Jahr – 4 Apr 1531 Jahr)

A swiss Christian humanist, he began the Reformation in Sweden. His preaching of the gospel caused unrest, and the city council in Zurich held a debate in the town hall (debates were a method to spread Reformation to other cities). Zwingli won the debate, and was allowed to continue preaching.

After being allowed to continue preaching, he wanted to reform Zurich. He wanted the state to supervise the church, and he abolished all relics and images from churches. "the images are not to be endured; for all that God has forbidden, there can be no compromise." He did not want any distraction from the pure word of God.
