During this time, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden were all united under one monarchy. Although united, this period was filled with conflict and strife among all three. These conflicts still divided the nations culturally if not politically. The internal rivalries resulted in little development in the nations and resulted in several different rebellions and ultimately a civil war.
