In 1956 there was a large uprising in Hungary against the USSR’s dominance over Hungarian domestic policy. The subsequent Soviet invasion lead to the death of 3,000 people in Budapest. Around 250,000 people fled the country, mainly to Austria and Yugoslavia.Zugefügt zum Band der Zeit:
