Ereignisse
The Plague developed in the Volga River basin and disseminated throughout Eastern and Central Europe, finally reaching Constantinople. The major trading link between Europe and Asia.
The Black Death advanced from China and Central Asia to Europe, where an army controlled by Mongol ruler Janibeg struck the Genoese trading port of Caffa (now known as Feodosia) in Crimea. While the infected soldiers died from the Black Death, Janibeg catapulted their dead, infected bodies into the town to spread the plague and infect the enemies. From Caffa, Genoese boats transported the epidemic westward to Mediterranean ports, spreading the disease inland.
The Plague spread to Italy.
The Black Death spread to North Africa, mainland Italy, Spain, England, and France. A boat from Calais, France, brought the plague to Dorset, England, in August. It spread to Bristol, England, almost immediately and then quickly moved throughout the southwestern parts of England.
The outspread of the disease continues as it arrived at Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, Germany, and the Low Countries. London feels the catastrophic effects of the Black Death extremely strongly between February and May. The disease carries on and moves to the North of England.
The Black Death reached the farthest north of England, Scotland, Scandinavia, and the Baltic countries.
The Black Death devastated Europe, taking the lives of an estimated 25 million people by 1331, also wiping out half the population of Paris, which had around 100,000 people. The disease continued spreading as it arrived in Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, Germany, and the Low Countries. London suffered the catastrophic effects of the Black Death between February and May. The disease continued moving northward in England.
The British Government tried to make adaptations after the Black Death, agreeing to maximum wages due to the labor shortage and introducing a poll tax. Economic and social pressure rose, leading to the Peasants' Revolt.
The population of England was approximately half of what it had been 100 years earlier. The Black Death caused the evacuation or disappearance of around 1,000 villages in the country.
