The Nazi Party initiates a one-day boycott of Jewish-owned businesses
The public burning of books written by Jews and writers known for having anti-Nazi views is carried out. Such writers include Thomas and Heinrich Mann, Heinrich Heine and Albert Einstein.
A law is enacted which revokes the German citizenship that had been granted since 1918 to 'undesirable' persons (Jews from eastern Europe). This law does not target Jews, but becasue there was an increase in the number fo Jews in Germany after the First World War Jews are the primary sufferers.
The Law for the Restoration of the Professional Standard of the Civil Service is enacted. Jews and anti-Nazi elements are dismissed from positions and functions in government and public institutions.
An order bans Jews from working in the German press.
Heinrich Himmler is appointed head of the SS in Germany
The Saar region (which has been under League of nations control since 1919) is annexed by Germany following a plebiscite.
Despite its prohibition by Treaty of Versailles, there is a renewal of conscription into the Wehrmacht (Germany army) in a law stating that only Germans of 'Aryan' descent may enlist in the Wehrmacht. Jews are dismissed from the German armed forces.
The proposed Nuremberg Laws are accepted during the Naxzi Part’s rally at Nuremberg. The two laws deal with protecting ‘German blood and honour’ and with preventing ‘non—Aryans’ from obtaining German citizenship.
The first ordinance of the Reich’s Citizenship Law (a Nuremberg Law ) is enacted. This defines the term ‘Jew’ according to racial principles and includes in its definition persons of Jewish descent, children and grandchildren of converted Jews and Jews of mixed lineage (Mischlinge).

The Anschluss, the annexation and integration of Austria into Germany, begins. All laws and restriction which were instituted against the Jews of Germany are applied to the approximately 19,000 Jews of Austria.
