The Sugar Act The Sugar Act of April 5, 1764 was the first attempt from Britain to raise income from the Colonies. They passed this act in Parliament to try to get the Colonists to cut down on smuggling. So they placed a tax on imported goods such as sugar and molasses.
The Stamp Act The Stamp Act of March 22, 1765 was placed by Parliament on the colonists so they would have to spend money on stamps that were require to be on anything shipped
The Boston Tea Party In Boston on, December 16, 1773, members of the Sons of Liberty boarded a British ship and threw all of their tea into the water. This was intended as a protest against Parliament's tax on tea. "No taxation without representation!"
The Battle of Lexington and Concord This battle was the kickoff to the separation of the colonists from Great Britain. The battle took place in Massachusetts on April 19, 1775.
The Intolerable Acts These series of acts were passed by Parliament in 1774 in response to the Boston Tea Party. These acts were placed to regain lawful control over the colonies.
The Boston Port Act This act was set by Parliament on June 1st of 1774 to prevent the colonists from importing and exporting goods to and from Boston. Great Britain blockaded and closed down the ports.
The Declaration of Independence The official document created by Thomas Jefferson and the rest of the Continental Congress was created on July 4th of 1776. Today, we celebrate this day since it was the day we became planning our Independence from Great Britain.
Saratoga Saratoga was a battle between the colonists and Great Britain resulting in a victory for the colonies. The battle took place on October 7, 1777 and was a key turning point of the American Revolution.
Great Britain Surrenders Great Britain sends 8,000 troops into the battle of Yorktown in Yorktown, Virginia. They end up surrendering to the colonies at the battle in November 19, 1781.
