Super Mario Bros. is a video game that was released in 1985 for the Family Computer and Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It is the first side-scrolling 2D platform game to feature Mario, and it established many core Mario gameplay concepts. Super Mario Bros is a game that follows a plumber by the name of Mario, on a journey to rescue his deer, Princess Peach. The story begins with... A plumber named Mario and his brother Luigi who travel through the Mushroom Kingdom to save the princess from the very evil Bowser. Plumber brothers Mario and Luigi from Brooklyn arrive in a place called the Mushroom Kingdom, ruled by Princess Toadstool (later Princess Peach) and her faithful Mushroom people. The adventures are endless. Mario jumps, runs, and walks across each level. The games take place in different "worlds," different locations, and they are full of enemies and stress to get through to the next level. Mario Bros. was a platform game developed and published for arcades by Nintendo in 1983. In 1985 the first-ever Nintendo Game was released as a two-player console game. It was designed by Shigeru Miyamoto and his coworker and Nintendo’s chief engineer Gunpei Yokoi. With Mario established as a global hit, Nintendo took the Mario games far beyond the original Nintendo Entertainment System. They expanded into the Game Boy, Nintendo DS, Wii, WiiU, and later mobile applications. Mario Bros spread to Mario Golf and of course Mario Kart. Super Mario Kart was first released in 1992 as a kart racing game developed for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System video game console. Years later, Mario Kart 10 will be released for the Nintendo Switch in June of 2021, with more characters than ever before! The success and popularity of the Super Mario Bros. games continue to exist and show no signs of slowing down.
