1980: People in government around the world launch a campaign to boycott South Africa. Civil obedience and other protests increase.
1981: Mark leaves his family in South Africa to live freely in America
1985: The United Democratic Front was formed in South Africa, which was led by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Reverend Allan Boesak. The organization helped spread the word worldwide about the problems of apartheid.
1987: International pressure forces south africa to end apartheid
