1769: Birth of James Triffitt in Yorkshire, England.
1789: Found guilty of stealing and was sentenced to 7 years transportation.
1791: James Triffitt was transported on the Matilda (one of the vessels) to Botany Bay. He arrived at Botany Bay, but then a week later he was sent to a penal station on Norfolk Island.
1791-93: Somewhere during this period he met Mary Higgins Whiston, another transported convict.
1853: Death of James Triffitt in New Norfolk, Tasmania.
1797: Around this time, James completed his sentence and was given a grant of land and became a farmer on Norfolk Island. Fortunately, Norfolk had reasonably well climate and enough land to produce good crops, but not every crop succeeded.
1808: James and his family left Norfolk island because of the terrible climate conditions which occurred that caused crops to die, and making a living harder.
1812: Settled back to New Norfolk. Married Mary Whiston (another transported convict) in New Norfolk, Tasmania.
1825: Married Sopia Susan Daniels, a woman 36 years younger than him, and they moven to Emu Bottom, Tasmania.
1843: James Triffitt declared bankruptcy.
1834: James lived with Sophia and his family in Emu Bottom, and sold the land where he had lived with his wife Mary. The reason being that Mary had died.
