1800 - John Dalton Concluded that all matter was made out of small particles and that the difference between states of matter was the distance between particles
1874 - George Stoney Proposed the concept of a fundamental unit of eletric charge. He called it the "Atom of electricity" and he called them electrons
1897 - J.J. Thompson concluded that cathode rays were made out of corpuscles that were within the atom and were more than 1000 times smaller than the atom. These corpuscles were later identified as eletrons
1904 - Hantaro Nagaoka proposed "Saturnial" model for atoms which seemed to made sense but was abandoned due to other problems with the mode in 1908
1909 - Ernest Rutherford Discovered, through testing with alpha particles through thin gold foil, that most of the matter in a atom is in the middle and that matter has a positive charge. In 1913, his theory was modified to include eletron shells (Niels Bohr)
1930 - Walther Bothe & Herbert Becker by firing alpha particles at beryllium, which emitted neutral radiation. This led to the discovery of the neutron
1926 - Erwin Schrodinger Erwin had developed mathematical equations that describes the motion of an atom. He recieved the Nobel Prize for his work. His work also leads to an electron cloud model
585 B.C - Budha Proposed existence of Kalapas, tiny indivisable particles of minnd and matter that vibrated trillions of time in the blink of an eye
300 B.C - Democritus Had an idea that if we kept breaking something half, we would get something that would be indivisible ATOMOS - can't be cut
