1965: Don Davies proposes NPL network (local area computer network). He introduced the concept of "packet switching". Packet switching is a feature of networks and happens in the network layer.This is the design for modern day routers.
1969: ARPAnet launched after ARPA built the first routers through BBN technologies
1971: Email first introduced when Ray Tomlinson configures system for sending messages.
1991: Tim Berners Lee makes World Wide Web available to public after inventing it in 1990.
1983: Paul Mockapetris invents DNS (Domain Name Server) which now gives common names to IP addresses. This allowed website to be easier to access and memorize.
1958: First Modem for computers is invented by AT&T's Bell Labs. Digital data is transferred overly at slow rates.
1963: ASCII is developed by Bob Bemer. ASCII is a code that represents text and was the standard for communication at the time.
1973: TCP/IP protocol is introduced by Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn. This is the protocol for how comunication works for network devices on the internet.
1995: MP3 is developed by Karlheinz Brandenburg. MP3 is a modern way of streaming/listening to music.
1998: Blogs start on the internet. Blogs are websites on internet that post discussions in the form of posts.
2005: Youtube founded by Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim. Youtube is a big platform for sharing and watching videos users upload.
1994: Inventor of WWW Tim Burners Lee founds W3C, standards for WWW.
1982: SMTP is invented by Jon Postel. SMTP is the protocol for mail which has since been updated and still used today. This protocol to send and receive messages.
1998: Google founded by Larry Page. Google is a main search engine which is used on WWW to locate webpages, images etc.
1991: WIFI or 802.11 is created by AT&T for cashier systems. This wireless connection is blueprint for wireless connections.
