The Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G Major, also known as Allegro, was the fourth of six concertos dedicated to the Margrace of Brandenburg, Christian Ludwig. It was composed in 1721 by the Baroque Era's best known composer, Johann Sebastian Bach (J.S. Bach). Something unique about this concerto, along with the other five, showcase the form "concerto grosso", which is when a large orchestra and smaller group of soloists are contrasted within a piece. It is a very good example of Bach using couterpoint. This concerto specifically was written for violin, a string orchestra, two recorders, and basso continuo. The solo violin is a very memorable part of the piece, since it has rapid arpeggios and is well-complemented by the recorders. Furthermore, the recorders are very good at portraying a positive, gleeful mood, almost as if you are travelling through a forest in a fantasy world. The dynamics, tempo, and vibrant rhythms reflect Bach's use of counterpoint, and how he makes it engaging within his pieces.
