Beschreibung:
Olaudah Equiano's work "The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano" was from a point of view many didn't get. Most enslaved African Americans never got free. Plus, when they did, most of them were not educated and didn't have access to an education. His work contributed to the American identity because it showed the brutality and inhumanity he experienced. His ability to learn proved to be helpful for his travels as well as his writing. He thought that a lot of languages sounded and were about the same "They were therefore, easily learned; and, while I was journeying thus through Africa, I acquired two or three different tongues."(Eqiano, 345). Through his journeys, though traumatizing; he was able to educate himself and make resources for himself to be able to be free and educated. His story, and determination to succeed was a powerful story that educated and touched many american's hearts.
