29 Sept 1776 Jahr - Thomas Paine: Common Sense

Beschreibung:

Thomas Paine's, Common Sense was a persuasive essay. In this work, he criticized the monarchy and stated why America should declare independence from Britain. He stated, "The period is now arrived, in which either they or we must change our sentiments, or one or both must fall"(Paine, 316). This is one of the many points he makes in attempt to show every reader that declaring independence from Britain is the best option for America. This was individualistic because these ideas and opinions weren't being openly shared at this point in time. With the production of this work it allowed readers to consider a life without being under the rule of Britain. This was an influential piece of work because it broadened our horizons and helped us move forward into making America what it is today.
