The history of English ttranslations began in the 10th century with the West Sacon Gospels, the earliest surviving English translation that contains only the Gospels and was translated from Latin. In the 14th century, John Wycliffe's Bible emerged as the first complete English translation of the Bible, translated from the Latin ulgate. Wycliffe believed that the scriptures should be accessible to all Christians, laying the groundwork for future translations.
