This case addressed the First Amendment on free speech. Organizers of a parade refused to allow the Irish-American Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Group of Boston (GLIB) to march in the parade, stating they did not wish to convey an LGBTQIA+ message. The Supreme Court sided with Hurley 9-0, reversing lower courts decisions. They determined it would be compelled speech to force parade organizers to allow GLIB to participate, which would violate the First Amendment.
