Beschreibung:
He chartered the Santa Maria, and the city of Palos provided the Niña and the Pinta. He sailed from Palos with 90 men, in these three ships and landed at the Bahamas, which he named San Salvador (Blessed Savior). He then landed in Haiti, and then in Dominican Republic, which he called Hispaniola, leaving 40 men there, and returning to Spain with a dozen of indians as gifts for the Spanish King and Queen. He was of course welcomed as a hero, and due to the newly invented printing press, news about his adventures spread quickly.
