Start of the American Revolutionary War
Beschreibung:
This battle marked the beginning of the American Revolutionary War. In the early morning of April 19, 1775, about 700 British soldiers arrived in Lexington and was face to face with 77 militiamen. A single shot fired and to this day, no one knows which side fired first. After the smoke cleared, 8 lay dead, 9 were injured while only 1 Redcoat was injured. The British then went into Concord to look for more weapons, but didn't realize that the majority was already relocated. They decided to burn what was left, but the fire got out of control. After searching Concord for about 4 hours, the British prepared to return to Boston. By then, almost 2,000 militiamen came to Concord and more arrived. The militiamen shot the British from behind trees, sheds, houses, and before long, the British left weapons, clothing, and equipment in order to retreat faster.
