The demilitarized zone between North and South Korea became known as the peace line between the two battling sides. Becuase the Korean War had been continuing on, Eisenhower had threatened China and North Korea with a nuclear bomb, quickly allowing an armistice to be signed in July 1953. The signing had not officially ended the war but caused both sides to be wary and continue to guard the border between both countries. The demilitarized zone had signified the end of one of the Korean War, but it had been the beginning of the race between democracy and communist superiority.
