this game takes place six months after the first. naruhodo meets more of the ayasato family while he tries to process his grief and anger over mitsurugi's alleged suicide. we are introduced to karuma mei, the daughter of the legendary prosecutor karuma gō; she swears to get revenge against naruhodō for disgracing her brother.

this is also the game where they introduce the game mechanic of "psyche locks." in order to progress in the game, you have to use magic to pin-point exactly how and why the person you're speaking to is lying.
