Vanessa Carlysle is killed by gangsters, Wade Wilson ultimately tries to kill himself but fails. Colossus brings the heartbroken Wade to the X-Mansion.
Cyclops, Professor X, Storm, Beast, Quicksilver and Nightcrawler are all present in the X-Mansion.
Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead and new X-Men trainee Deadpool are called to an emergency with Russell Collins attacking the Essex House for Mutant Rehabilitation. While originally against Collins, Deadpool learns that he has been abused by the facility and soon joins him, ultimately getting himself and Collins sent to the Ice Box. Due to Deadpool's mutant ability being suppressed, he dies of cancer shortly after the collar is placed on him.
