The British were losing the seven years war, but they were eager to win. They decided to attack new France in effort to diverge the troops that were fighting in Europe. the British sent 190 ships, 40 being man-o-wars, and 27000 troops. Being lead by James Wolf, they blockaded the harbor insuring Fort Lousburg would not be able to receive any additional supplies to aid them in the defense. After 49 days the fort fell to the British. Due to the weather they had to holt their advance to Quebec till spring.

The British thought this was a great move and were excited once they finally took the fort.

The French at Fort Louisburg were optomistic at first but eventually knew they were screwed and gave the fort up.
