Cynthia Waxman, 11, was last seen playing with a kitten in a field in Moraga, near Buckingham Drive. Several hours later, her mother found her body in nearby bushes. Cynthia appeared to have been sexually assaulted and strangled.

She was murdered by serial killer Charles Jackson, who, through DNA research, has been determined to have killed Sonya Higginbotham (1975), Ann Johnson (1975), Cynthia Waxman (1978), Henry & Edith Vila (1981), Betty Jo Grunzweig (1981), Gail Leslie Slocum (1981), and Joan Stewart (1982).
