Mar. 11: found beside Powerline Rd just inside Sutter County, beaten to death

Fred Franklin Robinson stood trial for her murder, as investigators said he had confessed to strangling her, but a) he plead innocent at his trial, b) several witnesses vouched for his alibi, and c) the autopsy showed Katherine was beaten, not strangled. Charges against him were eventually dropped due to lack of evidence.

There is suspicion that Herman Lee Hobbs killed Katherine. He is guilty of the murders of Terri Pata (1975) and Holly Ann Campiglia (1980), as well as likely Brenda Ann Tucker (1994), and possibly Stephine Black (1974) and Harriet Riley (1975), as well as possibly the disappearance of Jennifer Lynn Wallis (1997)
