The Persians land at Marathon in Attica where they are met by a force of 10000 Athenians and Plataeans. After 10 days of stalemate the Athenians charged the Persians, before performing a pincer maneuver that decimated the Persian ranks. After the battle the Persians retreated and sailed around the Attic peninsula, but upon seeing the Athenians at Piraeus retreated back to Persia
