25 Mai 1787 Jahr - Constitutional Convention
Beschreibung:
After the failures of the Articles of Confederation, which led to the formation of a feeble central authority, representatives from twelve states gathered in Philadelphia in 1787 to amend the current structure. The assembly chose to write a completely new constitution to more effectively meet the demands of the expanding country. The result was the birth of the United States Constitution, setting up a robust federal government with a mechanism of checks and balances, which was later approved by the states. This resilient and flexible system of governance has steered the United States for over two centuries, maintaining equilibrium among the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. Its concepts of federalism, division of powers, and safeguarding of individual liberties have deeply impacted democratic governments around the globe.
