The treaty recognized Japan's dominance in Korea and ceded control of Port Arthur and the Liaodong Peninsula to Japan, while Russia agreed to evacuate Manchuria, solidifying Japan's emergence as a major power in East Asia and earning Roosevelt the Nobel Peace Prize.
