The Archmage Nex unsuccessfully besieges Absalom, erecting the mile-tall Spire of Nex outside the city in what is now known as the Cairnlands.

They are eventually defeated with the help of the god Aroden who, although he does not intervene directly, helps to guide the defending forces.
