Some Nancledran officers come to the orphanage, claiming they will find homes for all Nancledran orphans by bringing them to Taera. Marcy tells them she already has a home in Bordeaux, so they tell her that the Taerans will help her find home. She eagerly jumps into a wagon next to a boy named Alex.
