Seventy-two British and Irish women artists were compiled in the fifth Volume 'The British and Irish Venus' of the series 'Topical Catalogs of the Iconography of Venus from the Middle Ages to Modern Times' (1). We explore the frequency-time distribution of these women artists expressed as percentages of the total number of artists who depicted Aphrodite/Venus. This information would help an interdisciplinary study of the socio-cultural background of the artists, their patrons and customers. Why did women artists create artworks with this motif of Aphrodite/Venus? What was their inspiration? Did they create original compositions or were they imitating their male-colleagues ?
