Following the battle of Leukimme - Corinth enraged by defeat prepared a even larger navy with rowers employed from the Peloponnese & other areas of Greece.

Corcyra, alarmed by Corinth constructing one of the largest fleets of Greece, as well as lacking any allies - went to Athens to enroll in the Delian League. When the news reached Corinth, they also sent representatives to Athens fearing that they will lose if Athens were to support Corcyra.

Despite Corinthian efforts Athens offers support to Corcyra however due to the treaty with the Peloponnese they offered a defensive alliance instead & sent 10 ships to Corcyra
