6 Dez 1989 Jahr - DAS building bombing
Beschreibung:
On December 6th of 1989, a truck bomb containing roughly 500 kgs of dynamite was detonated outside the DAS building in Bogota. The bombing was intended to kill Miguel Maza Marquez, the head of DAS at the time, which was a security service in Colombia disbanded in 2011. Although Marquez escaped unharmed, the bombing killed 63 and injured thousands of civilians who were present that same day. The attack is strongly believed to have been carried out by the Medellin cartel, 9 days after they had bombed Avianca flight 203, and to this day remains the second deadliest car bomb attack in the history of Latin America.
