1 Jan 410 Jahr - Sack of Rome
Beschreibung:
In CE 410, a Germanic people known as the Visigoths invaded and sacked Rome. While Rome was able to recover from this, it marked the beginning of the end for the Western Roman Empire. Never before had the Empire been so fragile as to allow an invading army to sack Rome. This had two major implications for the Christian Church. The unrest of the Western Empire that this created can be seen in some of the writings of Augustine of Hippo. It may have contributed to his anxiety about the goodness of human existence, and his platonic view of the soul as separate from the suffering body.
