American philosopher, mathematician, logician, and scientist who studied at Harvard university. Peirce is often considered one of the founders of pragmatism which emphasizes the practical consequences of beliefs and the importance of experience in shaping knowledge. His ideas greatly impacted William James. Peirce introduced concepts such as Semeiotic (theory on signs used in communication and cognition), Abduction (a form of reasoning), and theories on logic and scientific method that all had great impact on psychology (Peirce, 2014).
