An Italian Patriot attempts to assassinate Napoleon III but fails. Napoleon III instead of condemning Piedmont-Sardinia decided to finally assist Italian nationalism with military assistance. In the "Pact of Plombieres", it's stated that France will intervene militarily if Austria attacks the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia. If France helps Piedmont in gaining the territories of Lombardy and Venice, then Nice and Savoy would be ceased to them.
