As of 2012, there were 118,932 dogs reported lost or stolen in England. Only 0.1% of dogs in England were previously microchipped causing lots more dogs to be put in pounds or put down. The microchipping is easy and painless, but allows the dog’s location to be tracked at all time. Microchipping was invented by Robert Noyce and Jack Kilby, scientists, incorporating technology with biology and saving many dog's lives
