The March 1917 revolution was when the people in Petrograd revolted against the Tsar and his government with the assistance of the mutinying army. The Tsar abdicated the throne to his brother but he refused. This caused the end to both the Russian monarchy and Romanov dynasty that had lasted for 300 years.
