Much like many of the other points with the failure of collective security, the Dawes Plan was good in theory and for a time worked in practice, but its overreliance on forein and US loans meant that it would only work for as long as the economic prosperity of the united states remained. Due to this, it collapsed alongside the stock market in 1929 and plunged Germany into an economic depression that was worse than any other. They owed loans to everyone and had no money to pay them. It also didn't stope the underlaying issue with reparation, and the chokehold they had on Germany, not only crippling their economy, but embittering the Germans to the those who are bleeding them dry. This directly led to the Nazi party regaining popularity and eventually, the rise of Hitler.
