Thanks to improvements in astronomy, humans manage to detect hyperjumps occurring in the milky way galaxy for the first ever time. While the scientists observing the bright flashing blur between two far off star systems did not know exactly what they had captured at the time, in the coming years it would become known that it was a hyperlane jump 29.7 light years away.

In the coming years many other such jumps would be captured, though none ever passing directly through Sol itself.
