AA: As my mother grew older she became unpleasant with her family’s current living situation and by the age of 17 she would decide to flee to the U.S. During this time around 200,000 people, largely indigenous Maya were predicted to be murdered by Gov officials, and a long-lasting conflicts with unequal land distributions were being fought over.
