Beschreibung:
The Battle of Wake Island was a very important rallying point in World War II. this was because it was a battle between the United States and Japan. it was to hold Wake Island. This was a strategic Island that was very close to the Japanese mainland. The battle was between the Marine Corps and other American soldiers in Japan. The United States was severely outnumbered in this fight, as Japan could provide reinforcements and ships as they pleased but the United States did not have the opportunity to reinforce wake island. this resulted in Japan finally forcing the United States to surrender over 16 days of hard Fighting by the United States. there were many heroes in this war including Major James Patrick Sinnott DevereuxWho was the commander of many troops on wake island. after 16 days and the surrender, the news got back to the American public about the heroic stand by the United States military. the people treated this like the soldiers were Heroes as they should have and it was an important rallying point to many of the American troops and people. this battle, even though it was a loss, give the American people something to be proud of and showed true American grit.
