4 Jun 1942 Jahr - Battle of Midway
Beschreibung:
The Battle of the Midway was a crucial turning point in World War II. It was a battle to take control of the Pacific Ocean. The U.S. had cracked the Japanese code earlier and determined that the Japanese wanted to attack Midway. This was because cryptologists working for the US Navy in Pearl Harbor had sent a false message that Midway was low on fresh water. The Japanese intercepted this code and made a message of their own that they were going to bomb the US base on the island of Midway. The U.S. intercepted this message and decided that they were going to let the Japanese attack this base and that they were going to intercept the Japanese on their way out. The Japanese severely bombed the island of Midway and on their way out to refuel, they noticed that there was US Navy in the area. There was a large battle between the U.S. Navy and the Japanese Navy which ended up with the U.S. having very insignificant losses and the Japanese having many losses. This stopped the Japanese advance in the Pacific and gave the U.S. a difficult way to defeat the Japanese.
