An agreement to end the conflict in the former Yugoslavia was brokered by Secretary of State Warren Christopher, and negotiator Richard Holbrooke in Dayton, Ohio., The full and formal agreement was signed in Paris on December 14, 1995 and witnessed by French president Jacques Chirac, US president Bill Clinton, UK prime minister John Major, German chancellor Helmut Kohl and Russian prime minister Viktor Chernomyrdin.
