Beschreibung:

-Japan was on Germanys side for ww2, and after Germany surrendered they continued to fight
-Aug 1945 USA dropped 2 atom bombs on japan- destroying 2 cities.
-This meant USSR didn't need to get involved, and Truman didn't want USSR to take part in the US occupation of japan.
-The US had kept the atom bomb a secret from the USSR, this made Stalin suspicious which increased tensions.
-for 4 years, the US was the only country with nuclear weapons, this gave the US an advantage over the USSR, Stalin saw it as an attempt for the US to intimidate the USSR, and got angry that the US had managed to surpass soviet technology.
