1 Apr 1676 Jahr - Native Americans

Beschreibung:

Metacom, chief of the Wampanoag Indians, son of Massasoit who feasted with the Pilgrims in 1621, tried to live in harmony with the colonists. He adopted the name Philip and is called King Philip by the colonists. But continuing expansion against the Indians finally led to war – King Philip's War. Metacom and the Wampanoag Indians are defeated. Metacom's wife and and eight-year-old son are sold as slaves and shipped to Bermuda. Metacom's body is cut into quarters and hung in trees and his head is mounted on a pike at the entrance to Fort Plymouth where it is to remain for more than two decades.
