Known also as the Night of Broken Glass or the November Pogroms, Kristallnacht (German for "Crystal Night") was the name given to the night of November 9–10, 1938, when German Nazis attacked Jews and their possessions. Ironically, the term "Kristallnacht" refers to the glass debris that was left in the streets following these pogroms. On November 10, violence persisted throughout the day and for several more days in some locations.
