7 März 1862 Jahr - The Battle of Pea Ridge Begins The next day, learning of Van Dorn's counterattack, 10,000 Federals in Brigadier General Samuel R. Curtis's army marched to meet the counterattack. The armies met at Elkhorn Tavern three miles south of the Missouri border. During the battle two Confederate Generals were killed Brigadier Generals Ben McCulloch and James McQueen McIntosh. The deaths of the two Generals slowed down the Confederate's momentum at the end of the day.
